Milky Lane.
The good side of messy burgers.

I will never go back. Never go back to basic burgers, fries and thickshakes. Milky Lane is an absolutely incredible American-style diner. When I arrived, the musical theme hit me like nothing else. It had beautiful graffiti from many famous American rappers such as Snoop Dogg, Kanye West and Drake. It was absolutely astonishing how incredible it looked. It had an amazing colour palette of perfectly chosen pink and blue colours. It had bright, swirly neon lights all over the roof that created an incredible vibe. I also noticed black and white tiles that looked like they were straight out of Wonderland. Out of all these things that I have said the best is yet to come... The seats were SUPER COMFORTABLE. A bad seat can ruin your entire restaurant experience (not literally but it can make it all the more better) and these seats were so incredibly comfy I can't even begin to explain how much I want to buy one for myself.
I looked at the menu and noticed a few amazing things. First, the menu had images of all the meals and drinks. This wasn't too helpful to me but it is a generous thought for people who don't have the best reading skills or struggle to visualise what the burgers would look like. I also noticed how eight out of the twelve burgers were named after famous rappers and actors. This makes it so your eyes will immediately recognize one of these rappers or actors and you'll begin to read what is in that specific burger. The menu is incredible and has something for everyone. If you're a fan of beef you could get burgers such as the "Milky Lane Special" or maybe the "Big Poppa". If you prefer juicy fried chicken rather than beef, you might get a burger like the "Post Malone" or the burger that I decided to get, the "Chic-Kanye". There is also a vegetarian option named "The Drake", and a "Get Naked" option that replaces the soft milk bun with iceberg lettuce. The side menu was also incredible, it had the basics like fries and popcorn chicken. But you could choose to get them loaded or just regular. The loaded version makes the side look and taste ten times as good. Trust me when I say this, if you can afford to get the loaded version, you HAVE to get it. You'll see just why. Now moving on to the thickshakes. They had the regular thickshakes and of course the loaded thickshakes. I can't even express how much of a difference there is. The loaded thickshakes look and taste like something out of a dream. They are so perfect, so big and just incredible. You can choose from "Crunchy", "Snickers", "Bueno", "Mint Aero" and "Biscoff". I'm not going to get into the details but they also had some dessert cocktails which looked stunning. Another great thing about the menu is that they have a specials menu. This menu changes every month and it has the best of the best dishes. I didn't get anything from the specials menu because I didn't want someone to read my blog, decide to get something that's on the current specials menu e.g. "Caramilk & Biscoff Calzone" and be disappointed when it's not on the menu anymore. But if I were to go again, I would definitely get something from the specials menu because (from my understanding) it won't be coming back anytime soon.
When my loaded thickshake arrived "Snickers Loaded Thickshake", I couldn't see all of it at the same time. It was the most gigantic thickshake that I have ever seen. I took my first sip and was blown away by how much flavour they managed to pack into it. I immediately knew that this dining experience was going to be great. Everything that I got was big, messy and absolutely delicious. And don't think I mean messy is a bad thing, sure it can be annoying if you bite into a burger and sauce gets all over your hands. But that's where all the flavour comes from. At around 12:15, swarms of people arrived for lunch. Milky Lane has a smartly designed system where you order and pay with a QR code. This is a really good idea because people can arrive, order, pay, eat and leave all within half an hour or less. It also means that they can't get any scammers who come in and leave without paying.
I didn't get a good look into the kitchen but when I walked by I saw dozens of crispy maple smoked bacon strips and around 50 smash patties being cooked. It was just incredible to see the three chefs in the kitchen controlling all of these pieces of bacon and patties while still remaining very calm. They were all moving fast and looked good while doing it. In my opinion, smashed patties are significantly better than regular patties and this is why: Smashed patties are harder to undercook. While with regular thick patties, you can't exactly tell if the middle is still raw or if it's cooked. Smashed patties aren't as filling, sometimes when you have a thick pattie it can completely overpower the burger and you can get full on the pattie rather than the rest of the burger. And lastly, smashed patties just look better than thick patties.
After my meal, I headed up to the bar to meet the bartenders. I asked one of them who the head chef or current manager was and sure enough, it was the person I was talking to. He told me how Milky Lane was an American-style diner and how that's one of the reasons it's so popular. I asked both of the bartenders for their own quote(s) and sadly they both didn't have one. But they eventually found one from Jordan Peterson and it states that "Courage is the honesty to know your own weakness and the strength to do something about it". This is an amazing quote and I'm very happy that they found it.
To conclude this amazing dining experience. I would like to say that no burger, fries or thickshake will be quite like the deliciousness of Milky Lane. Along with the absolutely incredible looks of the dishes, they also have incredible taste. I would not recommend this place to someone who hates messy food, but if you don't care about getting all greasy and saucy, it would be a good idea to give Milky Lane a try. And if I have to convince you even more, the vibe of this American-style diner was absolutely astounding.
